Hey, everyone!

I’m Courtney (CT) — a brain surgery survivor, mom, blogger, web designer, gamer, and adventurer.

This is my corner of the internet where I share what life looks like after multiple brain surgeries and living with a chronic illness. I speak up for the hydrocephalus community and remind others navigating shunt life that sh!t happens but no matter what, keep pushing forward. 💜

You ever have one of those days where you just laugh until your stomach hurts? That was me and my best friend Lauren at Fender’s Farm this weekend.

They recently reopened for the season after the severe damage from Hurricane Helene and let me tell you — they came back stronger than ever. This year’s corn maze is dedicated to the incredible helpers who showed up in the aftermath, a heartfelt tribute that reminds you how deeply Fender’s Farm is rooted in its community.

But okay — let’s talk about the fun part.

I saw a post recently and it said, “Who still uses Snapchat over 30?” and I said, “Me — proudly!”

Because when you’ve got your best friend and filters that make you cry-laugh, how could you not? Is that not what you all use it for?

Lauren and I are basically professionals at turning a simple pumpkin-patch outing into a full-blown photoshoot. Big chair? We’re climbing it. Goat barn? We’re making friends. Flowers? We’re posing. Ok, let's be honest.... she's climbing, I don't trust my knees right now.

And then… there’s Snapchat.

Every good fall adventure deserves a little comic relief, and ours came in the form of two Snapchat filter alter egos: Beetus and Cleetus. Don’t ask where the names came from — they just fit.

Somewhere between the pumpkin patch and the sunflower field, we discovered this ridiculous face-swap filter that turned us into what can only be described as distant farm cousins who’ve had one too many caramel apples. From that point on, Beetus and Cleetus took over the day.

Every photo? Filtered. Every laugh? Louder. Every stranger who walked by. Probably questioning our sanity. And honestly, we were fine with it. Because that’s the best part about days like this — letting go, laughing at yourself, and making memories that don’t need to be picture-perfect to be unforgettable.

People love to joke that Snapchat is for kids, but for us, it’s how we stay connected with friends who live hours away — and how we turn an ordinary fall day into something we’ll still be laughing about months later. So, here’s to Beetus, Cleetus, and the art of not taking yourself too seriously.

Whether you’re exploring Northeast Tennessee with your kids, your favorite person, or that best friend who can’t stop using Snapchat filters, this spot deserves a top place on your fall bucket list. Expect good vibes, great memories, and photo ops around every corner.

Go show Fender’s Farm some love this season — they’ve earned it after the year they’ve had. And if you see two girls laughing uncontrollably into their phones… yeah, that’s probably us.

With love,

CT
